Terms
A limited amount of financial aid is available to help pay for
attendance at the ADASS XIX conference. Financial aid is aimed
especially at students and attendees who are new to ADASS. It is
provided to participants based primarily on the merit of their
abstract (oral, poster, or demonstration), and on demonstrated
need. Financial aid may be granted for any, or all, of the following:
1. Registration fee
2. Demonstration fee
3. Hotel accomodations for up to 5 nights
We do not expect to be able to provide financial support for air
fare. Awards will not cover the banquet, tours, guest fees, nor will
it cover extra hotel charges beyond those for the basic room plus
tax.
Financial aid applicants are required to present an oral or poster
contributed paper at the conference (but see below).
Instructions
Financial aid applications must be received by the LOC by July 1, 2009,
at info[at]adass20009.jp.
The application needs to contain the following:
1. Position Title
2. Citizenship
3. Brief vita and list of up to 5 relevant publications (maximum of
2 printed pages)
4. Type of financial aid requested
5. Abstract for the contributed ADASS XIX paper
6. If the applicant is a student, please also provide:
1. Academic Level (Undergraduate, Graduate)
2. Name and e-mail address of person who will provide a
letter of recommendation; the letter must be received from
your reference by the LOC (info[at]adass2009.jp) also by
1 July 2009
Notification, Abstract Submission, and Registration
Those requesting financial aid should not yet register or submit an
abstract on the registration site. They will be notified by e-mail of
the POC decision prior to the abstract submission deadline (15 July).
From the time of notification applicants will have two weeks to
register and submit the abstract that was part of the financial aid
submission, regardless of whether the request was granted:
If the financial aid is granted you will be notified of the specifics
of the award, and you will have two weeks from the notification date to
accept the offer. If aid is not granted, or not granted in full,
applicants will be given a two week period to register and submit
their abstracts.
