We expect most overseas participants will use Narita Airport (NRT) as their airport of entry into Japan. Please note that connecting flights from Narita are limited to four flights/day. The NRT/CTS connecting flight may not meet your arrival schedule and may be difficult to book from overseas.

As such, for attendees arriving at Narita (NRT) Airport, we recommend you take the bus to Haneda Airport (HND) - the domestic airport in Tokyo and connect to Chitose from there. Narita-Haneda Bus Timetable (75 min. / 3,000 JPY).

There are more than 60 daily return flights connecting HND/CTS.

The Chitose Airport site provides a very good search tool showing all flights to and from the airport.

Sapporo can also be accessed directly from Kansai International Airport (KIX) in Osaka (8 daily connecting flights to Sapporo) and Chubu International Airport (NGO) in Nagoya (11 daily connecting flights to Sapporo). This option may be preferrable for European attendees in particular.

Finally for Asian attendees, please note there are direct flights to Sapporo from Shanghai, Seoul, Taipei and Hong Kong.

We recommend you use the airport bus from Chitose Airport to reach the hotel (70 min/1,000 JPY). The bus stops directly in front of the hotel. Bus Timetable

Any airport bus bound for Sapporo city stops at the hotel. There are several stops before the Renassaince however the Renassaince is the first hotel at which the bus stops. Announcements are made in English and hotel staff will meet the bus to check for ADASS attendees.

Electricity is 100V/50Hz. For almost all laptops, this should be fine, since adaptors are typically rated at 90(100)V - 240V. Power is VERY stable, so there is no need for surge suppressors. Most US equipment works fine, since the voltage is lower by only 10-15%. For European and other parts of the world where 240V is the norm, the rule of thumb is that, if the equipment works in North America, it will work in Japan.

The electrical plug is essentially identical to those in the US. The venue plugs will be 3-prong (grounded) outlets. For European as well as other plugs you will have to bring an adaptor.
