Dear users,
We inform about a maintenance of May, 2014.
[Maintenance, Operation]
May 7 (Wednesday) 9:00 -- 21:00
ADC analysis system is unavailable for the periodic maintenance.
A part of the open-use PCs and plotters are available during the
maintenance.
Terminal workstations in Subaru open-use room (sbws*) are unavailable
until May 8 (Tue) 17:30
Please understand that operators do not deal with any problem
of ADC analysis system in Japanese holiday week (May 3 - 6).

unless otherwise stated.

・IRAF 2.16.1 is available on anam11-16, anah08-10 (ver 2.14.1 remain).

[Periodic data deletion]
The periodic data deletion in the local disk area (/wam* and /wah*)
mounted on analysis servers (anam* and anah*, respectively) is executed
in monthly maintenance.
We strongly recommend to make backups of your important data.

/wam*: 4 weeks passed (on "ctime")
/wah*: 2 weeks passed (on "ctime")

- About use of computer resources
If several users occupy many CPU cores, memories and disks (file
servers) in analysis servers for a long time, and programs of the
users influence the processes of other users, we will warn the users.
Please use the batch processing system and check the current status
to avoid the above situations.
We will warn the user who exceeded restriction of the quantity of the
disk used.

- About NFS disk reaction delay
We received some reports that the reaction delays have occurred
on /mfst02* partition (NFS file system). The cause may be the
concentration of I/O processing, however the details are under
investigation.
Please use local disk area (/wam*, /wah*) and check the current status
to avoid the above situations.

[Future plans]
- We will carry out the corrective action of NFS file system
(/mfst* partitions) on a maintenance of June (June 2, 2014).
We will inform the details later.
- The periodic data deletion in /mfst* partitions (NFS disks) will be
executed on a maintenance of July (July 7, 2014).
We inform the details later.
- We will set up the network access control to terminal workstations
in South open-use room (new-r*), open-use PCs (Windows and Mac) and
wired DHCP in the open-use rooms.

多波長データ解析システム ユーザの皆様
2014年4月度の定期メンテナンス関連事項を連絡をいたします。
[メンテナンス、運用]

サーバ・ワークステーション 停止 (定期メンテナンス)
ユーザの方々にはご迷惑をおかけしますが、宜しくお願いいたします。
共同利用PC と大判プリンタの一部は、メンテナンス中も利用可能です。
なお、すばる共同利用室の端末ワークステーション (sbws*) は、
同室のLED工事の影響で、5/8(木) 17:30 まで使用不可です。
また、ゴールデンウイークの期間 (5/3-6) は、質問・要望等の対応は
致しかねますので、ご了承ください。

※特に記載が無い限り、全ての対話型／バッチ解析サーバ、端末WSが対象です。

・端末ワークステーション (alws*, sbws*) ビデオドライバ修正
（改善）
・anam[11-16], anah[08-10] にて、IRAF 2.16.1 が利用可能になります。
（IRAF 2.14.1 も引き続き利用できます）

毎月のメンテナンス時に、解析サーバ群（anam*, anah*) のローカルディスク
（/wam*, /wah* 領域）に対して、定期データ削除を実施しております。
重要なファイルはバックアップを取ることを強く推奨いたします。

・計算機リソースの使用について
anam*, anah* において、個人あるいは数人で、多くのCPU、メモリ、ディスク
（ファイルサーバ）等の計算機リソースを長時間占有する事例がいくつか確認
されております。それによって、他のユーザの作業に影響を及ぼす場合は、
占有しているユーザに対して注意／警告等を出す場合があります。
バッチシステムの利用やリソース使用状況の確認等をお願いいたします。
なお ディスク使用量上限を超えたユーザの方には、今後注意／警告を
出しますので、ご注意ください。

・NFSディスク反応遅延について
また、NFSディスク (/mfst*) については、I/O 処理の集中によるものと
思われる、反応遅延や速度低下などが報告されております。
こちらについては引き続き調査を継続いたしますが、回避策として、
ローカルディスク (/wam*, /wah*) の活用やリソース使用状況の
確認等もお願いいたします。

[今後の予定]
・NFS ディスク領域 不具合（遅延問題）対応
6月度メンテナンス (6月2日予定）での実施で検討中です。

・/mfst* 領域の定期データ削除について
NFS 領域 (/mfst* 領域）の定期データ削除について、現在検討を進めて
おります。現状、7月度メンテナンス(7月7日予定)での実施に向けて
調整中です。詳細は後日連絡いたします。
・アクセスコントロールについて
今後は南棟共同利用室A の端末WS群（new-r*) 、各共同利用室の共同利用
PC（Windows, Mac) および DHCP に対しても、アクセスコントロールを
実施する予定です。詳細はまた別途ご連絡いたします。
