ADC News on Nov 2013 (System improvement, Software install)

Dear users,
We announce about the software install on a maintenance
of November, and the schedule after December.
[Maintenance]
November 5 (Tue) 9:00 -- 21:00
(NOTE) The maintenance of November is Tuesday.
ADC analysis system is unavailable for the periodic maintenance.
A part of the open-use PCs and plotters are available during the
maintenance.

- Periodic data deletion
The periodic data deletion in the local disk area (/wam* and /wah*)
mounted on analysis servers (anam* and anah*, respectively) is executed
in monthly maintenance.

Symbolic links are the target of deletion from this maintenance (*).
- When both a symbolic link and an original file exceed a survival
time, the symbolic link is deleted. If original files have remained,
these symbolic links are not deleted.
- About use of computer resources
If several users occupy many CPU cores and memory in analysis servers
for a long time and programs of the users influence the processes of
other users, we will warn the users used many CPU and memory.
In addition, we will warn users exceeding the restriction of NFS disk
area use.
Please use the batch processing system and check the current status
to avoid the above situations.

- Batch processing system temporary operation
A temporary operation of batch processing system started after
October 7.
You can use like official operation planned from now on (please
understand that a setting change of queue etc. is made at any time
during temporary operation). If you would like to use the system in
temporary operation, you must register to it.

[Schedule after December]
- Network access control
We will set up the network access control to terminal workstations
in South open-use room (new-r*), open-use PCs (Windows and Mac) and
wired DHCP in the open-use rooms after December.
We will inform details later.

サーバ・ワークステーション 停止 (定期メンテナンス)
ユーザの方々にはご迷惑をおかけしますが、宜しくお願いいたします。
なお共同利用PC と大判プリンタの一部は、メンテナンス中も利用可能です。

[ご連絡]
・定期データ削除の実施について
毎月のメンテナンス時に、解析サーバ群（anam*, anah*) のローカル
ディスク (/wam*, /wah* 領域)に対して、定期データ削除を実施いたします。

今回のメンテナンスから、シンボリックリンクも削除対象となります(※)
※シンボリックリンク自体と元ファイルの両方とも、保存期間を超えた時のみ
シンボリックリンクも削除されます。元ファイルが残っている場合は、
シンボリックリンクは削除されません。
・計算機リソースの使用について（引き続いてのお願い）
anam*, anah* において、個人あるいは数人でで多くの計算機リソース（CPU,
メモリ等) を長時間占有する事例がいくつか確認されております。それに
よって、他のユーザの作業に影響を及ぼす場合は、占有しているユーザに
対して注意／警告等を出す場合があります。
また NFSディスクの使用量上限を超えた（あるいは近付いた）場合も、
警告等を出す場合がありますので、ご注意ください。
上記のような状態を回避するためにも、バッチシステムの利用やリソース
使用状況の確認等をお願いいたします。

・バッチシステムの仮運用開始
10月7日から、バッチシステムの仮運用を開始しております。今後予定されて
います本運用と同様にお使い頂けます（仮運用中はキューなどの設定変更が
随時行われます。ご了承ください）。
仮運用期間中は登録制にさせて頂きます。

・ネットワークアクセスコントロール
今後は南棟共同利用室A の端末WS群（new-r*) 、各共同利用室の共同利用
PC（Windows, Mac) および有線の DHCP に対してもアクセスコントロールを
実施する予定です。詳細はまた別途ご連絡いたします。
